Snowman Spirit


From faraway, I catch
your gaze; your warm smile
melts me

I know that times have run rough,
like these wires hanging all above us,
but I think you can
save me

—from my inner self.

This world of mine could use your help.

So why don’t you untangle a thousand wishes
and spill them over the eggshells
I’ve trampled past?
Make something light up the deadbeat downcast,
messing with my heart’s truest feelings?

For so long, I’ve laid here—like a lonely star,
patiently hoping for a fuse, to carry me off into obsidian hues
where nothing but snow and space
