Hello everybody! 😉 Today I’m going to teach you how to make your own writer’s block! It’s simple and easy. You can put it beside your desk for quick access to inspiration or even give it to one your literary friends as a present this holiday season!
– Six pictures
– Plain paper
– Tape/Stick glue
Step 1 ~ Print five pictures:
2 picture quotes
2 places that inspire you
1 role model
*You don’t have to follow the formula above, but you can if you want to. It’s your block—put whatever inspires you to write.
For your sixth picture, go to Microsoft word and type in, The Writer’s Block, like I did on mine or you can insert your name (Ex:
Jolene’s Writer’s Block).
Also, double check to make sure the font is fairly small, and can fit into a 1.6″ x 1.6″ square.
Step 2 ~ Grab your pencil & paper because now we’re going to make a template for your block.
Each square is measured 1.6″ x 1.6.” You have the ability to change the size (increase or decrease the area), but for my purposes, I thought this was a good size to work with.
First, draw the squares with a ruler and pencil onto your plain paper like this:
*You should have ended up drawing six equally sized boxes.
Once you’re done, outline the boxes in a red/black/blue thin sharpie.
Step 3 ~ Using your scissors, cut your template out.
Step 4 ~ Fold your squares on the lines provided.
Step 5 ~ Using tape or stick glue (I used tape, but stick glue works just the same if you have a bottle at hand), start putting your selected pictures onto the template. Also, flip your template to the other side, so the guidelines don’t show.
*Paste the title picture onto the second square down from the top.
Step 6 ~ Tape or glue the sides together to form a cube.
Your block should end up looking like this:
Step 7 ~ Roll your cube and write something based on what it landed on. Instant inspiration! 😀
Happy Saturday! Keep dreaming creativity! —K.K.
